IHPS Institute for Hop Research and Brewing Slovenia: KUKEC LIGHT

Kukec is a beer with a rich history. It is named after Simon Kukec (1838–1910), who owned breweries in Žalec and Laško. IHPS – the Institute for Hop Research and Brewing Slovenia manufactures it for ZKŠT Žalec.

Kukec Light is a premium beer with a pronounced malty character and a balanced bitterness derived from the use of aromatic hop varieties Savinjski Golding and Celeia. It is intended for true beer connoisseurs and anyone who recognizes the importance of the quality of Savinja hops in beer. Traditional brewing techniques and special attention to the selection of raw materials make it particularly interesting.

Haler Brewery: GREEN HALER BEER

The tradition of Haler beer dates back to 1996 when, as one of the first small breweries in Slovenia, they began brewing lager beer in the village of Olimje near Podčetrtek. They only offer it at their homestead, where, in addition to the brewery, they also have a restaurant, rooms, and apartments. In addition to the classic light lager, they also have dark beer, their own radler with a lime flavor, and green Haler beer.

The beer is brewed according to an old German recipe. Their green Haler beer is a classic lager with a pronounced hop aroma. The aroma of bitterness is felt, intertwined between the Slovenian hop varieties Aurora and Savinjski Golding, and other aromatic hop varieties. In addition to selected hop varieties, carefully selected ingredients of barley malt, yeast, and water are added to the beer. After drinking this green lager, a distinct aftertaste remains in the mouth, which is reflected with the technique of dry hopping.

Clef Brewery: TABU BEER

Clef Brewery is a fairly young Slovenian craft brewery, yet already well known. Some beers are named after famous Slovenian bands – one of them is Tabu, an excellent lager. As the brewers say: “Tabu is a clean and balanced beer with a pleasant hop aroma that brings typical lager characteristics. It could be said to be thirst-quenching … but one shouldn’t talk about it – you just have to drink it!”

Pelicon Brewery: OUT OF CHINA BEER

The beer is named after the hometown Ajdovščina. If you use a little imagination, think about how you would explain to a foreigner where we come from? From out-of-china, logically!

It is a red beer with a charming bouquet of hop notes from Slovenian hops, among which we find three varieties of aromatic hops. The red color is given to it by a mixture of different malts, which bring the taste and aroma of bread and caramel. Out Of China beer is becoming a modern craft classic, enjoyed even by the most demanding beer lovers.

Green Gold Brewery: ADRIATIC WOLF BEER

Hazy Pale Ale, a product of Green Gold Brewing, created in collaboration with the Italian brewery Jhon Brewing and the Croatian brewery Maskeron. For the first time, a novelty in the market, Spectrum hop oil, created by the German hop giants Barth Haas, was also used. Spectrum was created from Styrian Wolf hops and enhances the hop aroma, which is prominently noticeable in the beer Adriatic Wolf. It has a full body with fruity peach undertones.

Brewwood Brewery: ALNUS GLUTINOSA BEER

Alnus Glutinosa is a sweet (or milk) stout – a dark beer dominated by aromas and flavors of cocoa, coffee, and vanilla. We added lactose to it, which further enhances the sweetness and creamy sensation of the beer, accentuating the basic sweetness of the malt. The beer is suitable especially for enjoyment on colder days. But there’s nothing wrong with enjoying it in the summer as well.
